The best thing is to check you phone book or the local tuxedo shop. Usually they will have some good contacts.

Try a student. But why go cheap? How many times in your life are you going to get married? This is a once in a lifetime event, and while granted, you don't want to spend a fortune, having someone on hand with experience would seem to be worth it. But that said, wedding photographers sell their souls on Craigslist looking for work, usually trying to out-do the next fellow with a lower fee. So Id try Craig;s List, your local photo dept. at the high school or university, and call the local paper--perhaps a staff photographer would like to make a few extra bucks. Tell them you're happy to have them copy everything to CDs--you can get the prints made yourself. That will usually bring the fee down.
Good luck,
Jeff

If there's any part of your wedding that you don't want to go cheap on, it's the photography. 5, 10, 15 20+ years down the road, you'll dress will be in storage, the food, cake and flowers will be long gone, and you probably won't even remember the name of your DJ. Its the pictures that will be bringing back all those wonderful memories down the road.
That being said, I shoot weddings at a lower price then many others because I do it only part time. What part of Michigan are you in? I live in Ohio, but have family in Michigan. You can get ahold of me via e-mail Photochickml@yahoo.com if you'd like and we can discuss details

If you live near a college that has a journalism/photography or art program, you may be able to find a student who is in need of extra money and wouldn't charge you an arm and a leg.
My daughter is student in Ohio and she does photography for people on limited budgets. You just need to be clear on what you want and need and let them know how much you can afford. Keep in mind that their time and the cost of printing your photos is a huge factor in setting the prices. Show them you value the job they are doing and they will work hard for you....no matter how much extra you can pay them, because not only do you get help, but they get more real life experience. It is also a good idea to have a contract in writing and allow them to use the photos for their portfolios as well.

I'd love to do it very cheap, it's just a bit far away from me that's the problem. What day is your Wedding, maybe there is a possibility. My Email adress is b-e-a-utifull@gmx.net just in case you wanna talk. Good Luck finding the right one. P.S. Make sure Your photographer knows what he's doing, very important if you don't want to pay a lot!

You'd be surprised!
Seriously though...I hate it when people use this term too often, but you get what you pay for. If you go for "cheap" you'll get a lackluster photographic performance.
I'd say look for the best "bang for the buck", but make sure the quality is within the standards you are looking for.

I suggest visiting online website such as
http://www.weddinglenox.com ,weddingvendors.com ,onewed.com
Unlike most yellow pages, they have price comparison for the vendors (DJ,videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
