Someone once wrote to me about doing something with RGB before sending my digital files to them for processing. Can anyone explain? Can anyone tell me more? Maybe someone knows of a better place to get this work done.

I tried to airbrush this picture using two different methods. I have my favorite but I want other people's opinions.

This is the original:

This is the first airbrushed picture:

This is the second airbrushed picture:

The differences are subtle, so you have to look close but I really want to know which one looks the best.

We just had our basement flooded and many of my grandmother's photographs were damaged and soaked. These photos from the First World War on through the '80s document the history of the entire American side of my family. I want to preserve as many of these photos as I possibly can. Many of those in scrapbook have been damaged when separating the pages to dry them.
My brother is going to scan and make digital copies also. Is there a safe or appropriate way to do this to limit damage? What should be done with the originals?

I have noticed in many photographs that more often that white people tend to have the "red eye" effect. While many dark skinned people like Indians and other asians don't have that trait

I took pictures on the last day of school, and I forgot about the red-eye setting.

As a result, some of my pictures came out with the red pupil.

I also noticed something.

Two of my friends both wear glasses. Alyssa took pictures with hers on, but Erin took hers off for the majority of the pictures. She came out with red-eye, and Alyssa did not.

So what causes red-eye, and why do some people get it in their pictures and others do not?

Here are some examples:

Family history project...initial load is about 4-5 thousand slides. Some old kodachrome, some Ektachrome. Some have moisture spots on the emulsion side. Mostly a lot of dust to clean off...I want to do it without scratching them.

I'm heading to Asia for 3 months - can anyone recommend a good mix of lenses to take for my Nikon DSLR? I like to shoot pretty much anything - landscapes, architecture (old and modern), candid portraits, photojournalism-style shots in public places, night photos...

So far my mix includes the kit lens (17 - 55mm), a 50mm f1.4, and possibly a Sigma 10-20mm for wide angles. I don't really want to take more than two lenses, though, because I am hoping to store all of my gear in a small inconspicuous shoulder bag that doesn't scream "steal me". So I'm thinking of leaving the kit lens at home, even though I am used to using it as a default in just about any situation. Am I going to miss the range it offers, or will the 10-20mm work as a default lens?

Dear all.

I was wondering if you, especially those in the know, would be able to tell me, what, in your opinion, is the most prestigious/professional/highly apt photography school in the world. Obviously you may differ in opinions and evidently many photography (schools/courses accompanying university) are equally reputable, but thank you for you opinions anyway.
