I have bought a bunch of expensive "Georgian" brand oil paints at a low price but it still ended up expensive for my budget, because of my inexperience and a busy schedule, I wont be able to use them for a while,
1)can they just sit there for a long time?

2)how long?

3)will time effect them at all if they are sealed in their original tubes the whole time, even a little bit?

I painted a design on some ceramic tile (not glazed) with wood paint (I was bored and it was all I had!), but I need to seal it on somehow. It rubs off fairly easily. Any suggestions? The acrylic sealant I use for sketches doesn't protect the "test" piece I made.

I just bought some acrylic paint, some brushes (intended for oils or acrylics), and a 12" by 16" canvas. I know what I want to do but I want to make sure I don't do anything wrong. Give me the basics, what should my first step be, etc. Thanks for any help you can provide!

It is composed of many thick layers of oil paint. Currently, it's one large sticky coat, but what can I use to dry it - to finish it. A sealer, mod podge, etc... It's a painting of the actor Lee Van Cleef by the way.

It's a warm, fluffy, cute little painting that needs a good title, a loving pat on the head and a place to call it's own.

But let's start with a title. What would you suggest based on you're personal perspective?

ive made so much research on chucks and the problem is, high grade or special materials just arent available in the philippines.

ive researched on the net for what to use and i came up with
-spraypaint (some say it peels off)
-acrylic paint with textile medium (some say it still cracks a little and youd have to be professional to do it right)
- fabric paint (i just cant find any of that here)
-sharpees (dont look too nice and smudge when wet!)

please shed some light and tell me what other materials or what can i do to customize my chucks and makie it last.. prefrably better it fades than cracks!

This two-year old has fooled the art world into buying and exhibiting his paintings. The 'experts,' say the papers, were falling over themselves to acclaim them. Does this tell you something about 'modern art?' If a two-year old can fool the 'experts,' are works by Picasso and others just mad splashings of paint on canvas as well? I'm no lover of modern art, and I'm told that's because I can't understand its meanings or the meaning of the individual paintings, but I know what I like and what I consider rubbish. Opinions on Freddie and the other 'masters' please.

I often wonder what art forms sell the best at art sales.
do bronze and clay pedistal size sculpture sell better or to medium sized paintings sell better?

In answer to a recent question Jabba commented that "Copyrighting a work of art is not exactly like copyrighting a novel or a musical work, where ownership is contracted for 50, and then a hundred years, and then for 50 more to the publisher, if they are still in business. Artworks are what you would call a real-asset. After the death of the artist, ownership of copyright passes to the person who owns the original".

Everything I have read on the internet indicates that the 50-70 year after death rule would apply.

Can anyone point me to any legal text which indicates that paintings do not fall under the 50-70 year after death rule.

Thanks

I don't know what museum but it was relatively small, two floors with a reddish interior... full of Renaissance portraits. It was possibly the only landscape painting there and it was sort of... a rocky area, i think a waterfall and a stunning rainbow. It had a gorgeous contrast between the light and dark areas and i've been wondering about it for a year! Please help!
