You can spray paint most anything.

Two limitations.
1) Saturation. To thick and your paint will start running or (in case of paper) it will damage your surface.
2) Suitable surface. You can actually make a painting with spray paint on water but it will not last very long. Same goes for some types of plastics and perishables.

Other than that you can spray paint anything.
