Visual Arts - November 2007

I'm looking to get started in photography. I took a class in analog black and white a few years back and it was REALLY interesting. I think I had a knack for it besides my pictures always being slightly out of focus (damn eyes!).

I'm interested in a digital camera around 400 or 500 dollars that has a good amount of manual features =)

OK, here's the deal. I want an external flash unit, only because I want some kind of motion-stopping power without the harsh "direct light" effect. I want to be able to bounce it, diffuse it...(by the way, when they say defuse, do they mean soften it so it's not so harsh?) plus I want more power.
The only problem is that I also want an X to 300mm (the first Focal Length doesn't really matter, only if it's below 100) I figure that I could save money by getting an IS lens to freeze the motion. The only problem is, I have no Idea how much it'll help with low shutter speeds, and yes I know the "focal length>higher than SP>Need IS lens rule, I just want to know how effective they are. I mean, unless I want SUPER freezing motion, do I just need an IS lens for camera shake, even at night? What events do they work well in?
So let's recap. I want to eliminate camera shake, but not with built in flash. Also want xmm-300mm, IS will solve both problems, is it worth it/will it work?

I have lots of pictures which I want to display in my bedroom and my drawing room.
Instead of buying frames, I thought I would create a collage instead.
One of my friend suggested that I use foamboards to create a collage.
I bought 2 foam boards today.However, I have absolutely no idea as to how to mount it on the wall and decorative tips to stick pictures on the board.
Do any of you know of any website which will give tips to do the same?

Note: I have absolutely no artistic sense (if I were to rate myself, I would give myself 1/10). So I desperately need tips!

My friend wants me to sell this Tinkerbell figure on E-bay but neither one of knows if its bronze or cast iron. It looks like it can be bronze so how can we be sure? The figure was given to him years ago from a person who was employed at Walt Disney for 25 years. The Tinkerbell figure they gave him marked his 25 years at Disney so he's thinking it's worth something.

hi i need some experienced models help! i have a photo shoot on mon with a photographer tfp work, but what to wear! i got loads of bargains in town yesterday like long jean shorts, white skinny jeans, black boobtob, black dressy top, green flowy top, flowery flowy top, long wooly jumper which can be a dress, and some flat knee high boots, help! i dunno what sort of clothing im meant to wear, this is my first ever photoshoot, also if i have an outfit but no shoes to match then could i go without?!

Hi people, I don't have access to online buying power because I don't have a credit card - but I live in the San Francisco Bay Area - how hard can this be? Are there any chains that carry it?
