Like "Jeannine" points out, you should do some preparation to the images before you move them around. Many time, people negelect this step, only to be disappointed in the results, because it "looks to fake."
Matching resolutions is one key, because, resizing after the image is pasted in can result in parts of the image haveing different size pixels. Matching color tones is equally important, because, even if the view cannot tell you why, the eye and brain can reconize the difference betwwn natural, outdoor light, and artificail indoor light. The light direction is another givaway that an image has been doctored.
Once all the prep is done, you can move the image into another in several ways.
1. Edit > Select All. (control A)
Edit > Copy (control C)
Edit > Paste (control V) in the new file.
Or,
2. Edit > Select All (contol A)
And then click on the selected area and drag it into the new file.
I'm sure there are lots of other ways to do this, including sitting on your head, behind your back, or bouncing your buttt on the keyboard, like Jerry Lee Lewis, but try one of these first.
Remember, "baby steps."

Hi, check your picture image size and dpi first! Then make your document for your collage...bigger so if you want to add other photos you have the room. decide on a size and make it just for example 8" x 10" at the same dpi as your picture you want to add. So you should have 2 windows open in photoshop, your picture and your collage to add your photos. Instead of pasting in in, I want you to add it in a layer. Select your photo then, you can do a lasso selection for a nice soft edge say 30px or just select all and then use your move tool and click and drag it over to your collage window. Now look at the Layers pallet and you will see your photo on the top layer. You will be able to move it were ever you want in your collage using your move tool.
You can add more photos if you like using the same steps. They will automatically go on their own layer. Just remember the photos have to be the same dpi as the others. When you arrange them how you want them to look then you can save your collage as a PSD so you can make changes when you like. To move each photo around make sure you select that layer the photo is on in the layers pallet. And if you are happy with your arrangement. Go to layer and flatten your collage and save it as a Tif or jpeg. The file will be much smaller to send out to be printed. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck !
