The dream is the most realistic dream I have ever had.
It was beautiful and haunting and I believe it had a meaning:

I have written the prose in a style that demonstrates, hopefully, the realism of the dream but also the surreal quality obviously inherent in a dream.

I chose to ignore conventionally accepted grammar to convey the ethereal and poetic quality of the dream as it was revealed to me.

What is your interpretation of the dream and what are your thoughts on the writing and the way the feelings and images, scenes are depicted?

I have travelled down the yellow brick road
I have lived on the dark side of the moon
I have danced with the devil
I have done the Mississippi Half-Step too
Living this life, I always go the road less travelled
Do not look at what you have done, or how far you have come
Look in your mirror, think real hard
Is this what you wanted, Is this who you are
Find yourself, quit the constant struggle
Follow the roads to lead you from your troubles
Relax. Man. It is ok
You are not going to die untill you get to the end of the road
The line does not stop, so quit your constant struggle
Find the right road, kill your troubles

for years I have wanted to write and I am told I am good at it. i write quirky factual stuff for a magazine in the UK but I can NEVER work out a synopsis for a story.

I'd like to write a crime caper based in San francisco with all the quirky characters I have met here. Crime = non violent crime like the theft of a valuable diamond necklace or something.

I can always thing of good scenes and conversations and I have the characters sorted out but can't work out a good plot or even how the crime could be solved!

Doesn't have to be a crime caper so any ideas on how to get a story started greatly appreciated!

Ideally I'd like the story to be 20 - 30 pages

Speaking of child protective services

The pride I have in scars my children wear
The younger sort of parents do not share.
Their fruit is wrapped, unblemished in their care.
What 'nurture' is to them seems 'cage' to me.

Their children march along the well-marked path.
At scheduled time, the kids take scheduled bath.
Confined and meek, but clean, they know no wrath--
But wrath awaits without, you must agree.

The hothouse flower from conditions mild
By insect jaws is very soon defiled,
For safe the garden; dangerous the wild.
Within my sight, my children wander free.

They test unyielding facts against mere will.
Of cuts and broken bones they take their fill.
--I don't allow experience to kill--
And clever fish! They thrive in hostile sea!

My youngest pretty boy is slightly marred.
The eyebrow on his right is clearly scarred.
His climbings led to tumble on the hearth;
I stitched his wound and let him wiser be.

And to the looking glass this ode
into which I see
The mirror, creature so profound
reflecting... me.

Yet 'tis an image, nothing more
though how precise it be
How is it that a thing of stone
can show so clearly, me?

Oh such a magic must it hold
or curiosity
Quietly observing all
then showing it to me.

But more to I than meets the eye
I'm more than you can see
And thus the mirror, seeing all
still knows not of me.

Perceives without, yet of within
not so easily
Reflects it all but nothing still
least of all, of me.
----
Comment on whatever you wish- the message, the rhyme scheme, the meter, why the heck I would write a poem about a mirror, etc, but please do comment- I am eager for feedback.

What exactly is this poem about? I know it sounds stupid, but is the person in the poem who's asking to hear about the forest and the river and everything dying, or do they just leave her at the end?

prime evil

A black marble altar, in the middle it stands,
One thousand candles light at her command.
A torrent of evil, wind cold like a ghost,
My life no longer my own, It belongs to the host.

Prime evil is what she has just for me.
Prime evil I'm lost in her eyes can't you see?
Complete control, I'm her sacrificial goat,
I am all hers, she dressed in black, a hooded wool cloak.

The air in here smells of a million years or more,
Nude, tied to the altar, what does she have in store?
I feel what I'm tied to is, is red and sticky, what's that smell,
She laughed and she chanted about my life in hell.

Where have I been to, what can I be shown,
I have never in my lifetime, felt so all alone.
Even though the sounds of cloven hooves ,
It's her and I together, no one else around.

A pearl handled dagger, just adds to my despair,
Where is my love, who said, "dont have a care"
The dagger it pierces above my beating heart,
As it's pushed in, she said, we now start.

It was given to us in English class in 1990. I have no idea when it was from. It might be Chinese but I am fairly certain was Japanese. NOT a Haiku. I am %99 sure it was a woman poet. It was a love poem that reminded me somehow of how I felt longing for someone who didn't know how i felt and the imagery involved a tree - maybe a cherry tree, cherry blossoms, maybe a a weeping willow tree? I don't know that is the picture I get in my head when I think of this poem. I've been searching for it ever since High School I wish I could remember more about it

Melting Ice beneath my feet... I'm slipping
Silence desends, I reach out without gripping
I fall, we fall into a world of ignorance without cause
We protest to leaders with deaf ears and closed doors
Where do we go from here if we can no longer run?
The pressure builds and they say it's just begun
It's getting warmer, can you feel it or is it just me?
Put forth your words but it's action we want to see
How much longer can we wait to figure out?
The world is dying while we linger on the doubt
The heat rises and fires burn brighter than before
How much more destruction can we risk to ignore?

~
Tell me what you think?
Ok obviously it's about global warming, a very serious issue that affects the whole world. My family is taking it seriously and so should everyone else. GO GREEN PEOPLE!
Thank you!

Snowflakes drop all throughout the wintery night.
Decorated trees in the village shine like bright stars.
Tingle, tingle, tingle the bells shimmer smoothly in the distance.
Children sleep quietly through the mist air of quietness.
Enjoyably dreaming about the tremedous gifts;
On a glourious holiday full of spirit.
Nothing more excitng but a reunion with jolly old St. Nick.
