is to taste,
without breathing.
emotions vary,with taste
just to taste,

Shakespeare

To read good poetry, you come here
Suddenly pops up a New Shakespeare
He thinks himself the poetry Emir
And Nothing of his meanings is clear

He wore a Cap
Now he thinks himself a superior chap
All he writes is crap
And he can only sit on my lap

Who is he?

I like free verse type poetry, mostly, but rhyme is good too.
If you could give me a few details about your favorite that would be great! (Sorta the general feel of it)
Thanks!

All i remember is there was a lady who was from a different country and spoke a different language. And she asked a man where the bathroom was, and the word "bathroom" ment the same as "church" in english. So the man is telling her how nice the bathroom is, and many people like to go there. it was halarious!! I just can't remember what it was called!

Someone

I'm looking for someone not afraid to share how they feel
Somebody who won't pretend, but instead reveal

Someone who I can run to, they'll shield me in the rain
Someone who loves my company and I will feel the same

Somebody who's very special in each and every way
Somebody that I will wish for each and every day

It may seem that I ask for much but it's just so easy to do
But I can't help the way I feel
When I'm so in love with you

Hi,
just wondering if this poem has a metaphor? like would the metaphor be, "our future is hidden, among the vast forests of our soul".
our future
our future is hidden
among the vast forests of our soul
our future is waiting
among the depths of our own ocean
our future is yourself
you create your future
run through the forests
swim through your ocean
and you will find yourself
you
your future

And If?

Without you friend I’d be lost
no cost
to what a friend does mean

And if we were so separated
in hearts we are complete

Without you friend I’ve been sad
but, had
the memories with dreams

And if by chance we were to meet
and love as it should be

My poetic friends.
Til the end
Is love that hush-ly speaks...

"The mysteriousness of ink"

Taking up the forgotten pen
Drawing lines of black across my arms
Tracing edges of leaves, petals, stems
To form a group of roses
An area of darkness amid pale skin
The mass appears to absorb into my pores
Becoming a part of me
Skin with ink
Mixing with the unknown

From the point of the pen
More ink emerges
The black changes to form
Reds, greens, purples, yellows, blues…
Amid these colors
Two particularly stand out
Reds and greens dribble
Down the contours in my skin
To collect in the center of my arms
Mixing together
Separating to form
The green of the leaves, the stems
The red of the petals
An abundance of roses
Seductive, lustrous, lively
On the skin of my arms

I once read a poem that, if I remember correctly, was like a dialogue between two women about a man they both loved. The two women were the husband's wife, and his mistress.

The wife said her love would prevail because they had a history together, and were completely comfortable with each other.

The mistress said she would win his heart because everything was new and exciting with her. She believed the man would eventually get bored with the wife.

I may not recall this poem exactly the way it was written. I read it around 1983; it was part of a collection of poems I had to read for college.

Anyone know the name, and author? Is it written online anywhere?

I've got an assaignment in my English class, and it has to be a poem that when read, has to last three minutes. Therefore, I am looking for a fairly long poem. I would love to find a poem on the military, Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Battle of Normandy(June 6, 1944) or the Battle of the Bulge December 16, 1944. Any one of these poems would be awsome to do. I've looked on the web forever and I'm quite tired of looking-I'm getting no results.

Hurt and misery occupying space
Where heart and soul danced in love and grace
Head lowered sadly, unable to face
Reality and truth have parted ways

Pain and harm abundantly everywhere
Damage irreversibly causing despair
Incompetent of mind, cannot compare
Mercy and charity have disappeared

Begging answers to forgotten questions
Anticipate hearing the unspoken
Eyes close and seal for needed protection
Life and spirit have lost their direction

hi, where can i read cute, romantic, meaningfull poems online?? The words shouldnt be too difficult. ANything like this - (Weeping willow with your tears running down, why do you always weep and frown? Is it because he left you one day? is it because he could not stay? On your branches he would swing, do you long for the happiness that day would bring? He found shelter in your shade. You thought his laughter would never fade. Weeping willow, stop your tears. There is something to calm you fears. You think death has ripped you forever apart. But I know he'll always be in your heart) - that's from the movie MY GIRL by the way haha. ok thanks! byeeeee

beaten into life

Bring to me the endless night,
Celebrate with my suffering.
Here's to both my blackened eyes,
Bring to me one thousand years of night.
The worst has yet to come to all,
Careless as humans are.
We brought this all upon ourselves,
All shall be engulfed, in pure purple hatred,
Hopeless, yes our lives shall be.
The fear weighs on our shoulders,
Regrets that will last forever.
Bring these to my haunted dreams,
Slowly, as I am beaten into life.
Only one damned thing is certain,
The living shall wish for their own death.
We are worse than nothing,
Careless as we shall always be,
The end of life, the curse.

From his Coy Mistress

Had you had world enough and time
I’ll let you know you’re a pervert
Had you had world enough and time
I’ll tell you that you make me sick
Had you had world enough and time
I’ll tell you I’m not to be taken for a fool
Had you had world enough and time
I wouldn’t love you forever
I write to you to let you know your wooing can’t get to me.
You say you don’t have enough time
but yet you worship me.
All the money in the world will never
Make me lust for you more.
You complement me on my skin
Then threaten me with sexual thoughts.
All of the praising of my body seems sexual
Talking about praising my breast is not the way you get this lady
I’m a young woman looking forward to a lot of things in life.
Even more your not my type.

I'm not avoiding you because I'm coy.
I'm avoiding you because I do not like you.
I’m not avoiding you because I’m selfish
I’m avoiding you because you are too old.
Threats of worms eating me do not put me in the mood.
You say if I don’t respond to you
I would die a virgin.
But I will never give you the time of day.
You shower me with words of love saying
“I would love you ten years before the flood”.
And “An hundred years should go to praise
Thine eyes, and thy forehead gaze.”
But yet you don’t know me.

Making all kinds of sexual advances is not the way to get into my heart.
To me it seem like you just want sex.
I deserve more than this.
I want to be treated like a queen.
I want to be treated like a person
not someone who you look for when you want to be intimate.
If you praise me for is my beauty
Then you are severely missing out on something important
I am not just your sexual toy
And you will be nothing more
to me than a failed attempt of a relationship

i have to write a synthesis essay about these two poems
what things can i write about and what thesis statement can i make at the beginning?

Natasha Trethewey
White lies
The lies I could tell,
When I was growing up
Light-bright, near-white,
High-yello, redboned
In a black place,
Were just white lies

I could easily tell the white folks
That we lived uptown,
Not in that pink and green
Shanty-fied shotgun section
Along the tracks. I could act
Like my homemade dresses
Came straight out the window
Of Maison Blanche. I could even
Keep quiet, quiet as kept,
Like the time a white girl said
(squeezing my hand), Now
We have three of us in class

But I paid for it every time
Mama found out.
She laid her hands on me,
Then washed out my mouth
With Ivory soap. This
Is to purify, she said,
And cleanse your lying tongue.
Believing her, I swallowed suds
Thinking they’d work
From the inside out
