It was given to us in English class in 1990. I have no idea when it was from. It might be Chinese but I am fairly certain was Japanese. NOT a Haiku. I am %99 sure it was a woman poet. It was a love poem that reminded me somehow of how I felt longing for someone who didn't know how i felt and the imagery involved a tree - maybe a cherry tree, cherry blossoms, maybe a a weeping willow tree? I don't know that is the picture I get in my head when I think of this poem. I've been searching for it ever since High School I wish I could remember more about it

Perhaps it was a piece by Fumi Saito, one of the greatest 20thC Japanese women poets! Try to explore her poems.

I know it sounds ridiculous. This happened to me with a short story i loved. I called my school and spoke to the teacher and seems she pointed me in the right direction.
