For atheists, how is that possible? Because we are humans, does that make us the moral god? If not then where do moral values come from? If things just came to be then does that mean we can just make up moral values on the fly?

I'm afraid that one day someone will challenge our mind and declares that "he who has the biggest bombs win"! Wait, that is happening already.

i am agnostic though.

Here it is.

The world is very complicated and delicate. It's incrediblywell-built. What proves that? Science. If you don't believe in that, then watch a couple children's science TV shows.

There is a creator to a complex creation. ALWAYS. It's commonsense. If you don't believe in that, then you don't have any. A building doesn't rise on its own accord. WE build it. Even if the world started as...well...pieces of rock, it is still astonishing how all the incidents conspired to eventually create such complex universe.

Then, there should be a might creator who built this world. and you would be as powerful if you can clearly explain what world began with. You can't. because you simply can't explain anything as nothingness. You are NOT smart enough.

What do you say?

PLEASE, be civil. I don't want answers as 'STFU' or anything else. refute it LOGICALLY. I can prove it LOGICALLY. Then, let's see what you'll come up with.

We all know what Nietzsche was about: abandoning unworldly predicates and suppositions and elevating oneself above the herd via the Will to Power. But that's the thing, practicing Will to Power in its most stripped down and rawest form is nothing short of animalistic, and it rarely brings about positive rewards in our current egalitarian society. If anything it'll land you in jail. No matter how ambitious or passionate an individual may be, there are just some external forces that we incapable of controlling, like the weather or the socio-economic classes we are born into.

What does Nietzsche suggest? Niches, maybe? Finding a field of expertise in which to invest time and energy? A sort of outlet or conduit by which the Will to Power is expressed despite its ineffectiveness in other aspects of one's life?

To start off, this isn't an inflammatory, rhetorical question that intends to start a verbal assault from the atheists, agnostics, etc. on Y!A. That being said...

Atheists are people who don't believe in god(s), and, therefore, don't believe in any kind of "heaven." So, if atheists don't believe in any kind of final reward for a life of good or punishment for a life of evil, how can they have any motivation to be good and productive for the good of humankind?

Why don't they just kill, rape, be gluttons, and indulge in whatever instinctive and primitive pleasures they choose if they don't think there will be any consequences?

Please just answer the question. Don't bring up anything about how religion has caused wars, is the scourge of the World, etc.

I asked a question a while ago about our societies responsibility as far as those that we consider to be monstrous, responsibility as far as their creation. Only a few people answered but the majority of them tried to return the blame squarely back to the person. They, it seemed, totally rejected any personal responsibility for anything to do with any action that could have contributed to the creation of those that are considered monstrous.

Why is it that we as a society referrers to shift blame from ourselves, when it is clear that if we have done something or nothing in the formative years we are directly responsible for what results, and place blame on the person by saying that they have free will? Is it not a cheap lie that we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better and more righteous?

Why do people shift the blame?

Thanks.

Seems like the people who say don't judge others are being judgmental of those who are using level headed discernment. Seems like a fanatical idea of the actual understanding of the meaning of Judgment.

I just missed a big opportunity. It was right in front of my nose, but I just didn't see it. How do you get over this feeling. Look past it. How? Remember those days when you set your expectations high, and the you were hit with reality? What did you do? The feeling of excitement and happiness left you. We are all human. I'm sure we experienced this.

I for one would say it is as the written word enabled us to pass knowledge on in a way that transends race, culture and more importantly time. The written word makes knowledge immortal, and a good idea is a terrible thing to waste.
