People from the past were a lot different. I'm in the USA. Why do we change so much over time?

We are the product of the influence exerted upon mankind by the greatest minds who ever lived. The great philosophers from Socrates to the current day. They made their cases very persuasively and, consequently, impacted the minds of men as well as changed the course of history.

Following the herds of society. Advertising, believing in the so called science and believing that technology would make us happy. People are always searching for happiness in this world but they are going in the wrong direction. Simple living and high thinking is the best means. Living a God centered life in with a simple lifestyle back to nature. That is how we are to live. But instead we followed the blind. It's all evolution friend.

Random/Directed Mutation, Random/Directed Selection.

Changes that help us survive are generally kept.

This applies to ideas as well as genes.
