Whether we adhere to the Neo-platonistic view of Numbers and Mathematical Objects as “REAL”, or prefer the Formalistic contention that they merely represent formally constructed structures and relationships, it appears that their underlying QUANTIZED nature is ultimately inherent. ... Does this intrinsically quantized nature mean that not only our Physics but, sadly enough, even our Mathematics [as it stands today] is doomed (i.e. breaks down) when it comes to penetrating "beyond" the Planck Scale?

Obviously, I am asking this question from a "Philosophy of Mathematics" point of view, however, should you have any physical and/or applied mathematics insights to offer, I would be eternally grateful! :-)

The book “Medicine before Science” explains how physicians in the Middle Ages were concerned with their being able to predict the outcomes of cases. It was all about how they built their reputations and convinced their wealthy clients to trust them (the "Business of Medicine"). So then, were they really there for the good of the clients? Or did they just want to make money?

ok i just watched the history channel on notradomus and he said form the years 1992 to 2012 we will have great changes and destruction. It said that on 2011 we have to make a choice and decide if the world need to lead to a new beginning or the end of the world


is this true?



look it said from 1992 to 2011 we have global warming happening, 9/11, and everything! I really dont want to die ill only be 19 years old.

These are a few quesitons I'd like you to answer about the book.Im 13 and I just read it, it was confusing but eventually I got it.
1)What did you think of it?
2)Was the ending dissapointing to you?
3)Why was Arthur so.. normal.. after the destruction of his planet?
4)Was the destruction of his house and then the destruction of his planet that immediatly followed some kind of metaphore?

Ok, so I'm pretty new to Philosophy. I took my 1st course in philosophy a semester year ago and is totally blown away by it. I'm planning to major in it but then I was brought up in an environment where science and basic skills like English and Math rules. I'm not sure if I'll be any good at abstract subject like Philosophy.

Anyway, sort of went off topic. So what qualities are needed to become a "good/successful" philosopher? What does it take? (I put good/successful in quote because those terms are not well-defined and probably means differently to everyone.)
