When you look at what it means, it's such a tiny word for so many different contexts.

Spiritual happiness
Material happiness
Fleeting happiness
Drunken happiness
Blissfull happiness

Is being happy really the answer to life?
Is there an answer to life?
Is there life?
Is there a question?

to all you hard working people out there, do you realize how much pain you are creating for yourselves? the world do not need anymore work.

what it need is love, happiness, and good living. the hippi's had a vague idea of the reality and maybe if they had stayed long enough they'd probably have gotten to the source. if you do not believe me look aruond you, see how many hugs are being exchange daily.

the thing is they are so brief before you realize the hug its ended. everybody is rushing to nowhere. some of the people who holds lots of money are enjoying a little time liberty, but they do not know what or how to use it so they drive different cars around in their free time, go shopping or drinking.

a few lounge around their homes with the tube, another set just have cook out daily. I cannot state a %tual, but a great number use their liberty to make more money, now its called funny money. one half idiot tells me if it was'nt for money we would all be the same. country'

If God places the idea into mankind's heads, does this mean that he's responsible for the Macarena, Gigli, malt liquor, among other things. Why would he allow retarded fashion trends to be revisited (the oh-so-homo collar thingy). Have these people not watched Weird Science? I bet the bolo tie is next on the menu.

remember that successful actions is cumulative in its results. since the desire for more life is inherent in all things, when a man begins to move toward larger life, more things attach themselves to him, and influence of his desire will be muliplied.

If free will exists, where does it come from?

If you claim its an entirely physical by-product of this world, then you have to explain yourself because cause and effect rule this universe - there is no ambiguity.

If you want to argue that quantum mechanics presents randomness to the equation, then you have to explain yourself because it has not been proven that quantum mechanics is "random", furthermore that level of interaction is much "lower" than that of the neurons firing in your brain, and, just because randomness is injected, that doesn't mean free will results - it means your actions are random!

If you want to claim spirituality... then where exactly does it enter the "system". Every month we are coming to an increasingly better understanding of our brain and how it makes decisions etc... what room is left for spirituality? What happens when a computer connected wirelessly to your brain can make you feel anything, and think anything... your brain is causal

I can't seem to find any good books on metalogic. Any recommendations?

I have some books on the foundations of mathematics, but they all have this annoying feature of presupposing knowledge of the foundations of mathematics. Can you recommend any good book on the topic that doesn't presuppose knowledge of the subject (though I am familiar with first order predicate logic)?

I've read Two Dogmas of Empiricism, but it seems to me that any definition, if pushed far enough as Quine pushes this one will rely on either some undefined notion, or necessarily be circular. Is there something wrong with accepting the distinction as primitive? After all, it's easy enough to understand what we "mean" by the distinction.

Also what was Quine's motivation for rejecting this distinction? If I could understand his overall philosophical motivation, perhaps I could understand better why he would want to do away with this notion (and indeed, the notion of primitive "meaning" being associated with ideas which Quine seemed to dislike so much. After all, a theory of meaning may give new ground to plant the distinction in).

Also, what is the current status of the distinction?

Is there anyway to find truth? There are literally thousands of different religions that say they're the right one. Why did God let people create some many religions? Obivously most of those religions were based on lies but people still chose to beleive them. I currently believe that its either Christinanity or Islam is the way to elightenment. Do I ask God? If so how do I do it? and how can i tell if its really god or satan talking to me?

That child will tell you. You have to set the scene, meaning be serious, not casual, be simple and trusting, and say, "Where did you come from?" That's all. Just those words. And then listen patiently.
Do you believe me? Have any of you ever heard of this or experienced it? Tell me, would you?
Does anyone doubt the veracity of this? Tell me why, okay?

to be with the ones we love who have passed on before us... what do you think would happen if say: You had a previous relationship with someone who passed away, whom you loved very much, and now youre with someone new whom you also love? Would you be with both of them in heaven? That doesnt sound like a great scenerio, certainly not a recipe for happiness.

animals are beyond these things, but lets pretend you were one and cared..
what would you think?
