Some people do not even seem to grasp what life really is to begin with which is why it is easier for them to ask other people and use their opinions as their own!! Its all second-hand knowledge in this society!

The meaning of Life is different for everyone. It's the value of Life that People should ponder. After all, if One can take another person's life, whether spiritually or physically, then He/She doesn't know the true value.
Maybe if some People know the value of Life, then maybe, Life will have meaning. To each their own.

I think most people who ask what is the meaning of life are asking "What is this life preparing us for?" I think this is a legitimate question since none of us seem to know. Certainly, if we are honest with ourselves, we find that even if we have achieved all that we set out to do, after we have attained these goals, they are not as fulfilling as we thought they would be. And happiness is so transitory, no matter how rich or how powerful or how fulfilled we are. The question is not only for losers as some would seem to suggest. Cheers all!

people some people needs to be driven by purpose... and because some people live a gray life (somewhere between the shade of black and white), they can't define where they are going nor what do they intend to do with life... thus they live for everyday without knowing the purpose of why they are living such kind of life... they feel empty and void as to the fact that they don't know which aim to pursue...
its like an arrow set forth in the air without a definite path nor there is a target far ahead... they seem lost... thus they have the need to understand their life better, seeking for meanings and reasons that would tend to motivate or push them to move forth and never stop...

Many people live lives of complete abstraction these days, partly due to TV, partly due to urbanization and an unhealthy detachment from direct contact with nature, partly due to idleness of the body and spirit. They ask for the meaning of life with as much sincerity as someone eating a piece of Bazooka bubble gum, reading the cartoon inside, tossing it on the ground and moving on so bored. They feel the void in their hearts and mind, like an echo that follows not a voice. All they have are sound bytes and fortune cookie platitudes to sustain them.

Exactly!
If I got 10 points for every time I spotted that question on YA - I'd be a top contributer by now!
In my opinion, looking over the ages and eras, life changes therefore so does the meaning of life.
Just live, love, experience, and don't let others influence your view of life!
I don't see the relevancy in the question anymore.x or the answers!
Pleaaaaase no more "Whats the meaning of life?" questions! Argh!
Thank You! :-)

In this era money is considered as a soul for the life, this impression has created by those people who have no values for their life, human life is just once and its beautiful when we open windows and doors toward love, today people are more busy and they dont have time to post a smile on his face or to sit and talk with their children's and relatives, for these people there wont be any meaning in their life... meaning comes in life when human get plenty of love and affection from their dearest and when it time to leave the world , he would have a life fulfilment smile on his face...

Such people choose to be bystanders, mere spectators, not active participant of life, and its hectic affairs. They would like to think and think trying to understand first what can only be understood after, after they wholeheartedly accept and in your own words 'live it to find out for themselves' what life is.
In my opinion, this is such a hypocritical, or at its best ignorant approach, to that catches people unawares. People who try to figure out what life is without living find people who try to answer exactly what life is considering that by doing so they do something – it is a blind leading a blind.
The knowledge of life without actually experiencing its pains and delights in the heart, without having a courage to face whatever life could brings on, without living, for the love of life, for the love of honesty and truthfulness and the self that constantly seeks to be better and closer to truth, such knowledge is a dangerous knowledge, so much so that it is not knowledge at all, just an illusion formed upon shifting sands of wishful dreams.

I think you can still Live a Life & keep asking yourself that question; otherwise the life you are living will never change! I don't want to be doing the same thing forever and to-day is different compared with yesterday.

Some people could feel dissatisfied with their lives, thinking they have no purpose being alive, working in dead end jobs with no prospects etc etc.
Others probably ask because they are afraid for whatever reason (failure could be one) to go out and find out for themselves. It would be those people who would watch their friends travel the world or get fantastic jobs in careers they have dreamt of etc etc. The person may also be capable of that but is wrapped up in whatever reason and does not feel able to do things with their life. Others may be tied with little hope to get out and feel the same. Depressives may also feel this way but lack the mental drive to go and find out.
