What would you do once you have blanked out your mind, and controlling all your thoughts into nothingness or blankness?

Blankness is just that blank, so be creative allow yourself some freedom in life, and your mind will calm down soon, as it will release all that pent up energy which is making it nervous and out of control in the first place.

Controlling as any other form of bullying with yourself always backfires, so respect your mind. Learn to first gently observe your mind, as a loving parent would, and thus help the children learn to behave as their parent - Calm, peaceful and respectful.
If you are just present for your mind enough, it will naturally calm down on its own. It only requires your presence 'in' the mind to make it function smoothly.

No controlling needed, control only makes kids rebellious.

It is a great tool; make sure you hone it up, so that you get to use it well.

Try a bit of meditation, where in you learning to observe your thoughts, and NOT controlling them. Too much self control will also backfire eventually, so also give yourself a free run once in a while, with the gentle presence of your Self.

Focus on the Self instead, that would calm your mind instantly, as soothing energy would flow in, soothing it and healing it. Your mind is also clamouring for the same peace as you are. True everlasting peace only comes with the presence of the Self. Also a controlled life is not a creative one, so you decide, what would you rather live.

"Loving-kindness (maitri) toward ourselves doesn't mean getting rid of anything. Maitri means that we can still be crazy, we can still be angry. We can still be timid or jealous or full of feelings of unworthiness. Meditation practice isn't about trying to throw ourselves away or become something better. It's about befriending who we are already."
