Once you know what you really want, shouldn't that be more important than anything else? Do people tell you that you shouldn't want it, or that it isn't really important? Shouldn't you tell these people to shove it?

Im writing an essay, I just need the main points of his argument against it. So far I have:
- Democracy was the reason for Socrates death, whom Plato loved.
- The time he was growing up Athens, a Democractic state, lost the war against its neighbour Sparta. This didn't please Plato with the politics of his home.

I got some his texts, and a complete works book plus other texts on Plato, if you could give me the main points, Ill try and find them in my books. Does anybody know which parts of Karl Poppers book to refer to as an argument against Plato's Republic? - whomever answers this one stands a chance of being picked for top answer. If you desire the points.

More specifically: if I'm a Christian and believe the human Soul lives on after death is there any way to explain this Soul and its after-life in Phenomenology? I undestand from my reading that the Soul is seen by Phen. as a 'moment', hence it cannot exist as a 'piece' - surely this would mean the Soul dies with the body? Hence, the Christian idea of Soul as eternal must be wrong according to this philosophy. Am I right? Yet there are Christians who claim to be Phenomenologists.

- An infinite universe would have a infinite number of days
- The end of that infinite series of days could never be reached.
- Therefore you could never reach today.
- Therefore the universe will have an end, it had a beginning... what caused the beginning... a first cause... that is what people understand to be God.
- Ed Millar
- Please do not answer 'what created God?'

I'm not asking about the impact your family and friends have on you...that's a given. But, think about this...someone asks you for a quarter so they can use a pay phone...you think nothing of it...hand it to them...and they are able to call the love of their life and apologize for a misdeed or something and it totally changes the course of their life...all because you were right there with a
quarter.

How often do you think that happens? And do you know if it has ever happened to you?
