We understand about the possibility of total knowledge, but we seem to know as to what constitutes absence of it. Can any one try to provide answer? Thanks.

I'm of the opinion that there is no concept, virtue, moral that trumps them all. Principles should not override process, in my opinion. Do you agree?

Democracy, freedom, liberty, security, equality, love, courage, etc. -- these are all nice things, but I can't think of any such virtue that is applicable to every situation. For example, freedom is usually good, but sometimes too much freedom can lead to chaos. Conversely, order is usually helpful, but too much order leads to tyranny.

Also, what problems do you think arise from people relying too much on a single virtue, or when principle overrides process?

"Belly and the Other Members" by Aesop is helpful in appreciating this new application of research. Nature magazine reports Dec 06 that stomach microbes may "lead to a way of fighting malnutrition" around the world! Jeffrey Gordon, Washington University Genome Sciences says, "For decades, doctors have treated bacteria in a WARLIKE manner, yet most encounters we have with (the unseen world of) microbes are very beneficial."
1st response: This fable has an all-time value: never look down on backstage-lowest level work. People on top have many more supporting people performing menial/humbler tasks. Regarding the beneficial action of bacteria, "stomach microbes" are indispensable, but they can become harmful if they migrate to other organs. For example, there are microorganisms which eat dead cells and renew our skin, but on bed sheets, they can make an asthma situation worse. Connecting this to the fable, just do not underestimate what you think is too small or not visible to the eye.

I can't be specific about subject, sorry... just can't.

Certain cards have been played against me. You could almost say these people are like the spawn of Satan in the way they wield their power and destroy lives. It was so cleverly crafted that it will take about 20 years (or executed tomorrow) for them to come to fruition and in the end it will leave me a broken man. It will take my worldly possesions, leave me in an old and crippled state. I will finish the last years of my life struggling and working like I never had too work, a loaf of bread and cheese will be a feast... and there is nothing more I can do too prevent it from happening....

what book, story would you suggest for me too read to try and re-center my life. (although I do love the bible....lets find something inspired by god and written by a poet or authors hand).

One of my favorite reads was, Les Miserable by Victor Hugo, what other books, poems, would you suggest?

Don't you think we are living in a better world if everyone applies the Golden Rule?

I've been mulling this over for a while, and so far, I've only come up with two outcomes:

1) The person becomes altruistic, but might create a bad outcome since what pleases another person now will cause them grief later (like breaking up with someone, would you rather be hurt now or wake up 6 months later knowing the relationship is doomed?)

2) The person is so worried about hurting and pleasing others they eventually do nothing since that won't affect others badly.

If you can come up with something else, I'd really like to hear it.

Perhaps not a formal prayer to God in a church, temple or mosque... but may be just a mental plea for some supreme power to help !! If not, what do you do in the tight situations where own ability looks inadequate.
