I am so proud to be a bass player but no so proud at how bad I am at it for someone who's been playing for so long. How would I get better at it and get myself back into practicing? I guess people that play other instruments might be able to answer this too.

PLEASE don't give uneducated, unthought-through answers! I adore classical music, and am a faithful student of its history and performance. Give real opinions! :)

I'm jealous of anyone who can read music and all. I sing in a church choir but I CANNOT read music.. I am way to old to not know how but I wish I did. I love to sing and I do sing in the Alto section. My only problem is ... AM I SUPPOSE TO BE SINGING THE MELODY or something else... HA. I wish I knew. I just started and I'm learning the ropes... but I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

there are a few, certain songs that i ABSOLUTELY adore...they just sound SO good to me, SO much better than 99% of the stuff i hear and i wonder if the underlying beats or something are similar in all of them and that's why they appeal to me...is there a way to check? could that ever help me find other songs i would love? i'm an art person, i know nothing about music...is there any research or programs that investigate this kind of thing?

I am an oboe player but will be playing clarinet for marching band in two weeks. I can get a sound out on the clarinet and can play most of the notes, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting a better tone and getting the notes out better. I play on a size 3 reed.
