I can also stand up in front of audiences and do a play or something, or act ridiculous. But I can't even sing in front of my Bio class. Why is this? I just want to be able to sing my favorite songs (Coldplay) and not be embarrassed. Or be able to maybe one day sing on stage. =]

I would think you could basically cut off the second act and you'd be pretty close to a kid-friendly show.

Alright heres what I need to do, Playing guitar and singing in a band. I run my guitar to an amp, however I have no experience in Micing any vocals.

I have ordered Peavey6 Mixer (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/p... and Shure58 Mic (with stand). I know nothing about pre-amps or anything that I'll need. I obviously need to be heard over the drums (which will not be miced) and in the future, I'd like to be heard in small or medium sized gig area (no larger than 150 people). So what else do I need, just a pre-amp and some speakers? Do I even need a pre-amp? Do I have to run the Mic to the mixer than a pre-amp then a speaker, how does the process work? I'd like to spend less than $300.

Also my friend has some large (about 4 feet tall) speakers from his home entertainment system, would it be possible to use these to save cash?

Thank-you

I just saw the movie, the one with Mel Gibson, I haven't read the play yet, but I assume that it's the same with plot and wording. I wanted to ask a question that some of you may think is silly and obscenly odvious. The question it : Why doe's every main charecter, including Hamlet, die at the end? Other then the odvious fact that it was written that way.

OK- here is the deal: got a daughter of 15 who I discovered can SING (no, not just being a doting mother here) and now am stumped.

What can I do to help her further her career beyond the obvious of getting her singing lessons (which, by the way are impossible to come by here in the Scottish Borders! Anyone know of a coach?!) and perhaps offering to ferry her to workshops?

She got a mike and interface for Christmas and we have just mucked about with it (I am NOT aux fait with recording booth technology and am "at sea")- seriously- just mucked about: www.myspace.com/brigidmhairi

Now- I was wondering- do I just get cheeky and send her tape to someone to have a listen and advise further? If so, who to?

Any advice by recording artists, singer songwriters or producers would be very welcomed.

This is my first question so am not sure what to expect from it but it is driving me mad to have folk tell me I am wasting her chance for vocal development by not acting now.

Please and thanks

I plan on trying out for a Music College this coming March. However, it has been almost a month since I lost my voice due to vocal overuse. I saw an ENT three weeks ago, and he gave me antibiotics and anti-histamines. The medicines helped, however, I'm still experiencing pitch breaks in my voice. I can't sing notes from high C onwards! I'm working as a part-time barista, and I plan on resigning on March, but I'm starting to worry if I need to resign earlier so as to rest my voice. I don't want to have any permanent damage on my voice as singing really makes me happy...
