You managed to sneak four questions into this one, but I do that all the time, too. I'll try to answer all of them.

Why improve character? The first reason is self-respect. After that, it is to earn the respect of others, which has real utility value, whatever else it has. People who like and respect you, who trust you, are what you want around you, not suspicious or hostile people. So behaving with integrity (a major component of character, in my opinion) is just being practical: make cooperating friends, not resentful enemies.

Character is in part there at birth, whether genetic or past-life is unclear. Because I believe in reincarnation, I can believe that certain character traits can be carried through from one lifetime to another. Or perhaps it is in reaction to the results of the opposite character trait in a past life. Who knows, maybe I was a picky eater in my past life! LOL

Leadership can be either a talent (basically born in) or a skill (something you learn). And there, I have answered questions three and four together. And of course, "leadership" is one answer to the Why question that started all this: because people will follow a leader who gains their trust, whom they perceive to have a good character. Unfortunately, they will also follow a leader who does not have good character, but is a good enough actor to fool them.

We had an actor president once, remember? Did pretty well, too, because he knew the President was just another role, and he was happy to have the starring role in such an important drama. I'm not sure he ever really caught on to the fact that a president needs to be more than the mouthpiece for the party and his advisers. (and his wife!)

You should improve your character because it needs improving (assuming it does). Everyone should strive to attain the highest character, simply because it makes the world a less terrible place.

Character does not come from birth, it has to be learned and developed (it's not the same as personality).

Leadership is a skill and it can be learned, though some people seem to have a natural tendency toward it. A talented leader would be one who can come up with innovative ways of inspiring others.

Talent is the ability to CREATE (such as music, architecture, medicine, etc.). Skill is a developed ability to do something (like play a piano, build a buildiing, ) A lot of talented people have little skill (such as a musician who can come up with very original ideas, but can't play an instrument). Also, a lot of skilled people have little talent (like a person who can play a piano very well, but can't create an original song).

Improving our character helps us in many ways. One is how people see you as whether you're friendly or nice, smart, genuine, mysterious are certain characteristics that might get people drawn to you. Keeping the ones that are good and improving the bad will help us with our social skills, how people see what kind of person you are, and how you look at yourself.

I believe that character comes through experience. For me I see a lot of drama happening to my friends along with drama in my life so I'm a very understanding person. Someone might seem arrogant because of being spoiled and getting whatever they want from their parents so they may think that their opinions only count and they are the only special ones. As you grow up good and bad things will happen to you which will change your life and your character.

Leadership is a skill. You have to know how to work with people how to let them trust you and it's guiding someone. Actually the best leaders are the ones who encourages people and let them think that what they have achieved their goal by themselves together. And some of that does come from talent.

Talent is what you are naturally born with. Like singing, if you're talented at that then you have a very lovely voice and good with beats and reading music along with interpetating(sp?) it. Skill is what you learn to do to become good at it. Like for acting you learn how to understand the characters, being the character, show true emtion, like that are skills and some skills do come from our natural talent while others we have to work on.

some traits come from birth from ur parental heritage which we call genes.they determine ur physical condition in this life

some come from ur past lives which we call as karma. this determines ur character / mental constitution.

Character has to be developed if one does not have a good character and wishes to develop one.

talent is what comes from birth and skill is what u develop in this life through hardwork..
and when u use ur skills intelligently then u r known to all as talented.

leadership can be talent as well as skill..
