Yes, there are plenty of places for free. You just have to look. One is craigslist.org or .com. Those are usually the local model and acting auditions. There's another called realact.com or reelact.com. You can sign up there to have your headshot and resume and look at auditions too. Just google free auditions or casting auditions or acting auditions.

Most online ads for that sort of thing are going to be scams. Most legitimate professional opportunities are found through agents. You should submit pictures (one full-length and one headshot) to agencies with a resume, if they are interested in representing you, they will then set up an interview. You DO NOT need professional pictures for this, snapshots are fine, in fact, frequently they require snapshots instead of pro photos. If they are interested in you, they will offer you a contract then send you on auditions or jobs.

If you want to get experience through community theater groups, they post their auditions in the Entertainment section of the local paper or on their individual websites.

Good luck.

You can join One Model Place or Model Mayhem for free as an actress or model.

I like Model Mayhem, it is friendlier.

And do not let ANYONE spit on your dreams and ambition. You want to be a model, there are folks who will hire you.
