The purpose of 1947 partition was so that the muslims can live in a Muslim state with their fellow muslim brethren in peace and happiness. While also the hindus can live in their state with their fellow Hindu brethren in peace and happiness. Partition promised the Muslims a state of their own and the Hindus a state of their own. Most of the hindus that were living in Pakistan and Bangladesh had to all come running into India otherwise they would have been killed. Yet India has allowed the world's second largest muslim population (even though they are only 12% of the Indian population) to live there.

My first question is:

If the purpose of partition was so that the Muslims could leave India and go and live in a Muslim country, why does India still have the world's second largest Muslim population ???

My second question is:

Did the Hindus actually gain anything from partition?

P.S. I love everyone and I don't mean to offend anyone with this question.

Has anyone heard anything about any advances in the search for the tomb of Imhotep. After I am finished whth the Army, I plan to complete my Egyptology degree. In a discovery channel show titled "The Mummy of Imhotep", they go into depth of the king of egypts tomb, he built and the sub-chambers under it. Now if you seen the show, you would know that at the end of the program, they say that when they were closeing up the shaft; at the very top of the it, in the side of the wall, there was a 6 foot wide by 1 foot high shaft found. They show one of the helpers crawling into it and useing a laser distance finder to show that the shaft goes out 80 meters { 240 Feet }. This would put the shaft right under the Step Pyramid! Now this show was made in 2000, but I have heard nothing about what was ever done with this shaft. Does anyone know anything else about it, or maybe somewhere I could go to find out more. If it helps the archiologiests name was Mysliwiec. Well thanks for any help you give.

I have a silver medallion awarded to Monsieur William de Lignemare (Following his name it reads "Temoignage de Reconnaissance 1924 "), sourrounded by oakleaves. It was Presented by, Societe Centrale de Sauvetage des Naufrages. It's larger and heavier then a silver dollar. On the flip side is a depiction of a ship going down during a storm with sailers in the water and clinging to the ships mast, being rescued by men in a life raft. I have no idea what this is and would appreciate any information you can offer.
