According to my family, I'm about 1/4 Sioux (my maternal grandfather). However, I have very little information about his family other than old pictures and stories. Even a lot of the names are elusive, and the vast majority of that family is too old to remember specifics or have passed on. Based on the stories I know, it is likely that my Sioux bloodline was never actually on a reservation, and split and traveled away from the plains a very long time ago and settled in an area where Algonquins presently are (which makes me think that there may be Algonquin in with that Sioux). So how do you trace a splintered native bloodline? Also, I'd like to get in touch with those roots, maybe take a trip out to the plains and learn about the culture somewhat first-hand, see the area, etc., but am not sure how receptive the people would be to me. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

I frequently have dreams where someone asks me if im jewish,or there is a jewish theme to the dream.

in one I ask someone if they are jewish and then tell them my g.grandmother was jewish and that her name was miriam?/

Even last night I had the weirdest dream where a group of women looked in my mouth and told me i was jewish like them.
???

I do not have any jewish ancestry that i know of,I do look kind of jewish.

Do you think we get hints about our ancestry through dreams?

I am 100% (as far as I have been able to tell) Irish.
My mom and dad are ok..I know about them.
Grandparents, on the other hand..Paternal Gramma had a bf with a name that is in NO telephone book (Wallman), and my dad and uncle dont look anthing like the other kids.
The falimy tribe in South Caroilina is so mixed and confused that its all uinreliable. Wasnt anyone faithful to their spouses at all in those days? Im dealing with the McSwains, Hammricks, Gilberts, McGeehans, Stevensons, and they all were just alley cats. I have a fairly good line of Geneology from ancestrry.com and other sites but none of them can be believed. It looks like everyone got drunk and did whoever they could find.
Not really a question here ..just venting. Has anyone else had this problem?

My greatgrandfather immigrated to the States in 1914. My father's family had no idea if he had ever reached New York. That is up until 2 months ago when I was able to trace him in the Ellis Island passenger records.
However, I didn't manage to find anything else. Can anyone give me a clue of how I can find more info?
Of course he is not alive, but it would be cool to find his offspring!

my question is, i have information on his parents, but what side do i stick with? do i go for his mothers side or his fathers side? or both? or do i do one then the other? doing both at once right now is getting really confusing because it is already hard enough to do just on side. so i do his mom, then his mom's mom, then his mom's mom's mom, or how do i go about doing this?

I'm trying to contact Pinedas from Torreon, Coahuila by email; I'm trying to track down family. A branch of my Pineda family supposedly went to Torreon, Coahuila in the late 1800s or early 1900s, while my branch stayed in Zacatecas and later moved to Laredo, Texas in the 1920s. If you are a Pineda with roots in Torreon, or know someone who is, please let me know. Thanks. pineda37@yahoo.com.
