What type of name is Dascha? Is it like Russian or something? Don't ask me "what kind of name is that" Because I don't know and that's why I'm asking. Even though I just said that someone will still say something stupid like that! And It's freaking annoying, some of you will do it to annoy me anywayz. But anywaya I really want to know!
ps- I didn't know where to categorize it.

Black doesn't always equal African. How many 'African-Americans' have tried to research their family trees pre-slavery times?

I know this might be a long-shot, but I am looking for information on Captain G.W. Edwards of Company G. I have very little other information to go on at this point. I believe that he was part of the 16th Regiment, Maine Volunteer Infantry -- although I am not entirely positive.

I've checked many different databases/books/etc, and haven't had much luck. If anyone has advice on where else I could learn more, I would appreciate it.

I have a trial membership to ancestry.com, but I have hit a dead end with trying to go beyond the generation that migrated here from Ireland. It was around the time of the famine. If anyone could lead me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Arrived this country from Scotland, probably in the early to mid 1880's. Travelled by covered wagon to Kansas, settled on a farm there and raised the usual crops and 5 children. Ernest, Elmer, Ida, Frank(Francis) and Lillian. Ida was my paternal grandmother, married to John Cunningham. One child, my father Earl Joseph Cunningham. All above deceased, am trying to construct a family tree for my sons and grandchildren before I'm gone too. Thanks.
