Which one? Are we talking about Richard Burton's daughter, or another Eliza/Elisa?

There are several Elisa Burton on the Worldconnect in rootsweb with different birth years. I did not know which one is your connection.
All of these sites are free. Rootsweb has exactly what Ancestry does except that Ancestry has the census and costs to use.
Usgenweb is a state and county search. Lds is the Latter Day Saints which has loads of info not only for the states but for other countries as well.

Well, you could start with some of the genealogy websites like ancestry.com or familysearch.org. Where is this person from? You could contact a local historical society and they could probably do a records search for you (most likely for a fee).
