It makes you an American with a Scottish heritage. Close enough to call yourself "Scottish" if that's what you want...but that smidge of Irish makes you a heretic!

If you relate to your Scottish heritage then you can be Scottish.
If you relate to your German heritage then you can be German.
I have an Irish last name but relate to my Bohemian heritage.
(I also have some McKay - possibly from Scotland if I go back far enough.)
It is up to you to decide which heritage you relate to. Some of us just celebrate all heritages. Even when they conflict. (Like Irish and Italian.)

Technically, you draw your racial derivation from your father. So the interesting mixture on your grandmother's side (is she your maternal or paternal grandmother?) contributes only one quarter to your ethnic makeup, and nothing to your racial derivation. Sorry -- everyone's first choice is to be Scottish, but you have to look at the other three quarters of your family tree to see if you qualify.

If you go back far enough ,and on both sides, you'll probably find more than just 4 nationalities! Just on my moms' side I have 8 different countries, and that's only following the male side to 1558. I guess that's why we're called the melting pot.

It's important to note that many cultures are not originally native to the lands they presently inhabit, or are descended from aboriginal and foreign ancestors. I would not worry about perfect lineage standards. As long as you have 2 or more generations in one country you are of that country, as far as I am concerned. You are all the nationalities you listed, almost certanly more.

it makes you just as much of a mutt as myself, we have the same ancestral mix basically. My maiden name is Hunter so I too have a Scotish surname, and though I am married now I still consider myself a Hunter at heart.
