I'm interested in finding out whether there is an online book of Olga Lengyel's, "Five Chimneys" or "A Woman in Berlin" by an anonymous author.

If anyone can direct me to where I can find these books online to read, that would be great. Otherwise I am going to have a hell of a time finding them in my little town.

Knowing my luck, they probably aren't available online at all.

In school, we are reading the book, Red Scarf Girl by Ji-Li Jiang herself. I just don't understand what the Red Sucessors were excpecting when they told Ji-Li, all the things that were wrong with her. Were they excpecting her to change herself? Kill herself? Leave China? Or what?

Bat, bat, come under my hat ,i'll give you a slice of bacon, and when i bake i'll give you a cake, if i'm not mistaken. Dancing in the firelight, see the queen who conquers night, gold flows from her hot and bright, Father Mother Sister Brother off they go i do not know if I will see another........

Okay, the first one:
It started like "In a big big house there was a big big door, and in that big door big door there was a bigg hallway, and in that big big hallway there was a big big... and it goes on, until at the end it says, and in that big big box there was a medium box and in the medium box there was a small box and in that small box there was a...jellybean!" and it shows a drawing of a pink jellybean in a box

The second picture book is of a girl who always wore a ribbon around her neck. She married her childhood friend, and he always wanted to know why she never took of her ribbon. When she was dying, she told him to untie the ribbon, and her head fell off, because it was the ribbon that was keeping her head attached to her body. Pretty dark for an 8-year old kid, now that I think about it, LOL

So these books must have come out in the mid nineties because that's when I was a kid and read them

Not every book, but those of authors I really enjoy. Especially if it is a series with reoccuring characters. I pick actors and actresses as if I were casting it for film, then picture the action in my head as I read. Anyone else do this?

The book needs to be about early american history to 1850. Something that happened in that time range. I'd like a book that is about 200 pages and intresting to read. Something that pertains to women would be good. Any suggestions, I'm in college?

I'm looking for a book to give as a gift to a first-grader with advanced reading skills. I would like something with enough pictures to keep it interesting for her and vocabulary that will challenge her a little.

I would prefer stories about African or African-American characters, or at least with a good diversity. It would be great to find someting that she would want to keep, rather than outgrow...

Thanks in advance!
