You did pick a good one, with Gone with the Wind. I just finished reading Clan of the Cave Bear and really liked it, but have to say I liked the movie more - the book made me cry! This was probably a first for me - reading the book AFTER seeing the movie.

Harry Potter books/movies are good - the actors playing the characters are perfect. And I enjoy Stephen King novels, but so few of them look good on film. Two I like are The Stand and Misery.

"Ring of Bright Water", a fabulous story about an English gentleman who purchases a domesticated river otter & adjusts his life for Midge, the otter.

"Forrest Gump", MUCH better movie than book! The book doesn't make much sense, kudos to the script writers that made a blockbuster movie out of a bunch of nonsense published in a book.

Gone With The Wind will always be my all time favorite. Vivian Leigh is exactly as I imagined Scarlett O'Hara! My other favorites are The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, Flowers In the Attic by V.C. Andrews, Carrie by Stephen King, and Beaches (I don't remember who wrote the book).

for me it has to be The Princess Bride, which I am sure was a book before a film but quite possibly the other way round. This was my childhood film, I love it! Can quote from it and when I saw that there was a book had to have it. bought it for myself for Christmas, it was the first one since my Dad had died and so a sad day. My boyfriend at the time decorated his attic with a Christmas tree with lights and everything, provided me with a sleeping bag (as it was cold, cold, cold) and kept up a string of small presents for me whilst I read aloud from the book.
Even though it was a rubbishy day, that made it a special memory which i will never forget.

I loved the book Flags of Our Fathers but I haven't seen the movie because I avoid ALL war movies. I really liked Message in a Bottle, The DaVince Code, and Cold Mountain.

I would have to say The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. They did such an amazing job on that movie, but it is always in the shadow of Lord of the Rings.
