I know that I want there to be a love story. There should be some conflict at some point, either they don't like each other at first, or one isn't interested at first, or something happens to separate them for a time, or one of them is in danger... But romance doesn't have to be the main genre. What happens with them has to be part of a larger interesting plot.

I don't even know where/when I want the setting to be! I don't feel like I can do something contemporary because I never really read contemporary novels. I usually stick to classics. I don't think I know enough to set the story in the past or the distant future, although the future seems more likely because it would require less research. I thought of doing something science fiction, but I don't know how to create my own universe like in Star Trek/Wars.

I feel like if I knew what the setting would be, I could create a character, and maybe a story would come out of that. But how do I figure out what setting to use?

I have been on a major reading binge lately.

Last week, I read the Sookie Stackhouse vampire series, and LOVED it. Now I am reading Wicked. I love Harry Potter, (even though I'm 33 years old), and I can't wait for the next book.

I have Ann Rice on my list of books to read next. Her Vampire series and her Witch series. The Anita Blake vampire series are next, too.

I'm not really into Vampires... It's just what my friends have loaned me lately. LOL Then I got addicted to the series, and had to get the rest.

I love to read books that once you pick up, you just CAN'T put it down. It sweeps me away to another world, where I see myself as one of the charactors.

What are some of your favorite books and authors, and why are they your favorite?

Your favorites will give me ideas on what to read next. :) Thank you!!!

I tend to get bored after 200 pages. I'd appreciate an adult book, but young adult is ok too.I did enjoy Of Mice and Men.That is one of the few quality short books I have come across.

My first question is why did Socrates refuse to have his family come and make a petition for aquittal before the court? What comes to my mind is that is it because he felt that it would be lowly of him to do so?
My second question is what did the people expect Socrates to propose as his punishment? What I'm thinking is that the people thought that he would accept exile.
My third question is what did Socrates ask his friends to do for his three sons in order that they grow up right? I'm stumped on this one.

I hope someone can enlighthen me on this topic

For some reason I have read very few books that I don't enjoy. And I read a lot and often pick books at random. It's weird.

I can only really think of one at the moment and that was Messenger by Lois Lowry.

Are there any books you really don't like? Why? Do you pick books at random?

My daughter received a letter today saying a poem of hers has been shortlisted as a semi-finalist, possibly to be published in a book 'Immortal verses', by The Interntional Library of Poetry. Although entry is free, to add some personal notes is $25, a lot of money for us. How can we ensure this is not a scam? Does anyone know these people? I would dearly love to give my daughter the chance to send in her personal notes alongside the poem, but only if we can be sure it is genuine!
