4th one slightly longer, but a very good read.
edit: I do not understand the "English only" in the question. Is the request for books by authors native to English-speaking countries? Are choices limited to authors writing in English as their first language? This seems like a foolish criterion; fine English translations exist for many non-English books.

a bunch of people mentioned a cather in the rye- that book was great. i read atlas shrugged when i was a senior in high school and it really changed my life. it's long and a bit challenging but worth it.
