What is Poetry?
I thought I knew what poetry is, but I was proven wrong. How do we touch the hearts of people with words so strong?

We make people cry, laugh and love
We make people remember a feeling that once was
Poetry is alive. Poetry will never die.

Poetry is an art; a forgotten art
We must do our part to help people remember.

We are artists painting murals with our words
When someone asks us, what is poetry?
We tell them poetry is life.

Let poetry live.

I thought this would be a fun mental exercise.

Imagine that you, not some fantastic version of yourself, decided to take the law into your own hands- No superpowers or magic, just your body and wit.

If you're looking for an example, think Batman.

Suggested things to include: A short description of who you are, what you will do to prepare yourself- for example fitness program, social contacts, equipment (weapons, first aid, suit, etc.), and why you wish to fight crime.

And, be honest with yourself- can you actually harm another human being for the sake of justice?

Feel free to include other creative details, like a pseudonym, personal ethical code, or description of your costume, to flesh out your ideas.

I will award the best answer to the most realisitic, thoughtful, and believable response.

If you look at the biographies of famous jurists in the past, many "read for the bar" after graduating from college. Some worked for judges while they studied, others studied independently. When did the states make it a requirement to actually go to a law school before being allowed to take the bar exam? What was the reasoning behind the change? What were the circumstances when this happened?

Here's what I have:
They're all called "Short Stories." They have full color covers with animated pictures. They're each about 140 pages in length.
Here are the issues that I have:
Jan 10, 1937 (Doubleday, Doran and Co)
May 10, 1948 (Short Stories, Inc)
November 10, 1945 (Short Stories, Inc)
February 10, 1946 (Short Stories, Inc)

I really have no idea if they're worth anything at all, but I don't want to put them into storage with all of the rest of my crap and find out they're worth millions or something. Any help is appreciated!

Who will remember the human race when this frail existence comes to an end. The sun will burn itself out. The galaxy will be consumed by the giant black hole at its center. Who will remember all these souls?

Religious institutions peddle fear and guilt and hate, politics breeds greed and deception. People turn a blind eye to the poor and sick and live in ignorant bliss. We assassinate those who speak up. We wage war to feed our lifestyle at the cost of unseen misery, out of sight out of mind or maybe just change the channel. We are programmed to be selfish consumers till the day we pay for the casket and the plot.
Our progress destroys the Earth, we are the god of all parasites but the earth is doomed anyway...fact; In 4-5 billion years the sun will go nova wiping out this entire solar system, will it even last that long. What does that matter to me? Almost nothing, what can I do?

All these things I believe are true.

But I love my life, I love my family and those close to me, I think the world is a beautiful place, and I am in awe of its beauty and give thanks to someone I don't believe in. I'm a fool because I'm hopeful for our future.

Do you believe there is any hope for humanity???
