What is Poetry?
I thought I knew what poetry is, but I was proven wrong. How do we touch the hearts of people with words so strong?

We make people cry, laugh and love
We make people remember a feeling that once was
Poetry is alive. Poetry will never die.

Poetry is an art; a forgotten art
We must do our part to help people remember.

We are artists painting murals with our words
When someone asks us, what is poetry?
We tell them poetry is life.

Let poetry live.

No.

Im not kidding either! I honestly don't think you DO know what poetry is.What makes this a poem? I know a 10 year old kid who could have done that! You are going to receive bundles of compliments that don't mean anything ( I have tested ) so please realize that poetry is more than just writing this. If you really put you're mind to it you could put out some really good stuff but not this time. Thank you.

The point of poetry is to make the reader FEEL what the poet is trying to express.
To the extent the poet succeeds, it's good poetry.

Keep in mind though, one person may be moved by something that leaves another cold. So the same poem may be rated good or bad, depending on the reader.

This is my affectionate & subjective critique of your poem.

Line:
1. Careful. Poetical questions should evoke feelings not analytical analysis
2. Good, the epiphany of one’s own ignorance is emotional resonant.
3. Not good. The inferred question of how or what proved you wrong, or how you felt about it is left hanging. The question of how to write good poetry, is not personal and again invites an analytical reaction. Also the wrong/strong rhyme is disconcerting since the overall poem is not lyric.
4. Good
5. Good
6. Good
7. Not Good. The art is not forgotten.
8. Careful. It’s unclear if you are saying “Poets are here to help people remember the important things in life.” Which is good. OR if you are saying “We should remind every one to be a poet.? Which is silly, because not everyone is a poet.
9. Good
10. Good
11. Good
12. OK but not needed.

Hope this helps. Keep writing.

It seems like you are recycling this, and are trying to teach. I dont think poems should teach, they should merely get you to look at things in a new way. DOnt try to explain things like this.
