That, my friend, is decidedly false. It was a satire written for the Canadian online National Post. It's worth noting, however, that in Biblical frame of reference, all magic is considered to be of the devil, which may give rise to the satire itself. Below is an online article detailing the situation, as well as a link to the article itself. I had to add this edit, where I found an article by an author speaking of all the Christian symbolism in Rowling's popular stories.

NOOO.
no no no no no.
She is far from the sort.
She is simply and author.
I am extremely tired of people takeing childrens thing and saying they are Satanist, or causing obesity.
The Cookie Monster now has a limit to the amount of cookies he can eat bc people thought it was causing obesity.
yes he did eat an exsessive amount of cookies, but if a child is watching that much tv that it causes them to be abese it is the parents fault. No one can ever admit these days that them themselves are at fault.
Parents will egg on this rumor because it is something that they are not used to, witchcraft and whatnot.
People don't like the unfermilliar.
Instead of opening up to new ideas, they close everyone off.

Rowling is a writer of Fantasy literature. If you define all such authors as 'Satanists', then I guess she is! (but I think this would be news to Rowling!) Personally, I try to judge books by their content rather than their genre in terms of morality(Rowling's protagonists would make acceptable role models for most young people, in my opinion.) and judging other people, especially judging them according to internet rumors, is certainly not a Christian precept. (I'm assuming that you heard the 'Satanist' rumor from a self-proclaimed 'Christian'.) Read the books. Decide for yourself whether they are good or bad, and leave the judging of people to a higher power!

Alot of the Christian population believe that J.K.Rowlings is a Satanist because they believe that all witchcraft is associated with Satan. Even though she only writes stories about witchcraft, some Christians think that she is trying to 'brainwash' them and their family through Harry and his tales. So long story short, no she isn't a Satanist.

Absolutely False.
The characters in her books celebrate Christmas and Easter, indicating that her fantasy characters are religious, if not devout.
The rumors are malicious and being spread by people who object to the fantasy/magic element of her storytelling.

No, I just think that she was inspired one day in a cafe (where she writes a lot) and decided to keep writing and keep writing. Besides, she needed money.
So, no, I don't think she's a satanist, I just think she's a genius
