One of the main characters was a monk or some sort of holy man or guru. He often said "The continuity of time is an illusion". He was instructing a younger man. I can't remember the author either (I read so much science fiction during that era.) but thought someone might remember the quote.

When you see a comedian, or a friend simply tells you a joke, why do you laugh? What makes things funny?

What is the difference between men and women? Physically there is very little difference since we are all constructed from the same genetic code and even our gender based differences are only the same organs being used for different porposes.

So the only true diffence is one chromosome, there for physical difference cannot be quoted as the defining difference.

So therefore what IS the difference between men and women?

Please explain your answers.

I thank you in advance.

Enraged by what he called the impertinence of the
Hellespont in blowing up a storm which brought to a halt his army of 2 million,
Herodotus relates that Xerxes ordered 300 lashes be given that unruly body of
water besides throwing in a pair of fetters, followed by a branding with hot
irons. You can imagine how this news was received at Athens; I mean that the
Persians were on the march.
---
I am not sure I understand the last 2 sentences. How the news was received at Athens? They think he is crazy thus the Greeks were really afraid of Xerxes? and what about the Persians were on the march? they were marching over the bridge of ships. how this march connect to 'how the news was received at the Athens'? Considering Greeks just won this war and Persians lost, the 'march' they were on was to retreat. How is this to connect with the rest of the text?

I hope somebody out there can help me out here. Thanks.

"I like the trees better. Because they grow high and high, Their roots go down into the earth, but never touch the center; their branches go high in the sky, but can never reach the clouds. It's beautiful...It's scary, also". - Miguel, 5 years old
