I'm trying to learn shorthand from a book, and there are thin and thick lines used to show the words. if i use a pencil, how can i draw the thick and thin lines fast?

Keeping in mind a beginner is taking the pictures. I will be able to develop the pictures myself in a black room and what not. :)

What sort of scenery looks better black and white?
What poses should my "models" take for the picture to look good?

I'm writing a love story about a newly divorced woman and the Czech born professional hockey player she falls into a relationship with (this isn't a long distance affair. They live in the same area), but I'm having a hard time nailing down the conflict. I don't want it to be run-of-the-mill, like her ex-husband wanting her back (that's been done). I don't want the standard commitment-phobe story line either. I, actually, want the athlete to be more serious about the relationship than her, but maybe he's not good at making her know that. Any ideas?

Is anyone familiar with the lightsphere II that Gary Fong created?
Its suppose to be a diffuser that projects light from your camera's flash. Does it really illuminate enough light that you wouldn't need studio lights indoors?
