The 1st books are set in a post cold-war world, where the good v evil open conflict has been resolved. There may be evil people living in amongst us, but they are secret -like the media frenzy at the time the books were published over peodophiles and immigrants. Then at the end of bk4, evil is going to return. Bk5 would radically depart from the real world situation but... then 9/11 happened and the book and real life carry on in parallel.

how to go ahead?

my life as a person who divorced his wife, so far successful. i dont want marriage commitments. since i deal with female people and their life as a councellor, i have the oppurtunities of enjoying sex. and i am enjoying with their permission. can i go ahead in the same way? i am taking precautionary methods. still i would like to know what will happen to my nature/ will i become a womaniser? after this new brand of life, i am feeling like i am a ever green prince. and that's where the fear comes.
