When rounding to preserve significant figures, why is it that when the digit removed is 5, the preceding number is increased by 1 if it is odd and remains unchanged if it is even? For example, what is the logic in rounding 17.71 to 17.8, but 17.79 to 17.7? Clearly, that is unreasonable!

My ears ring constantly .. mostly in my right ear. It's kinda like a steady high pitched beep more so than a "ringing" ..

I listen to loud music with big stereo headphones.. but other than the ringing I can hear perfectly. Is it possible that I have ear damage?

A computer store sells 10 floppy diskettes for 15 dollars and 30 disks for 40 dollars. The dollars varies linarly with the disks. Predict the price for a box of 100 disks.

I got 157 dollars, and y = mx + b, I got 32 as my b, I think something is wrong here =(
