Let the military fight the war, WIN it, and come home.
Unfortunately, the Libs and media....which are ,of course, interchangeable, just HAVE to shoot their mouths off.
It scares me to say this........I honestly think that they wouldn't mind a defeat because it would allow them an opportunity to criticize the president.

Anyone who thinks our troops are coming home are fools. And it doesn't matter if Republicans or Democrats are in power.
No matter who is running things, they will have to decide HOW to pull those troops out of the Middle East without making things worse than they are now. And when push comes to shove, NO President, NO Congress will be willing to let Iran move into the power vacuum created by pulling US troops out of the Middle East.
Why do you think the Democratic congress has been so ineffective on the war issues. They want to make political hay from the issue, but they DON'T want to be held responsible for the disater that actually pulling out would create.

well, that would be a great idea if we had any clue as to what a "win" in Iraq would be. we can't even get the President to offer to set any goals or benchmarks that might indicate what a win looks like so it just goes on and on and on and on with no end in sight. any goal post eluded to keeps moving and shifting until it disappears. interesting political strategy but it doesn't help our troops or the Iraqis.
the only clear goal that i've been able to discern is getting the Iraqis to sign over 80% of their oil assets to Big Oil other than that **shrug** it's just death, destruction and misery for all but those making huge profits off the continuation of the war on Iraq.
PS. anyone imagining that it's just a "simple" matter of "winning" isn't really paying attention to the complexities of the social system in Iraq. such simple minded folks simply love simple bumpersticker solutions. wave a flag, blame the Dems and the liberals and feel smug with being "right". simple... just like their Dear Decider who got us into this tragic mess in the first place.

Are you ill! There is no way you are going to win this war. Every General who has ever been in Iraq has said that!
Fifty percent of the troops on active duty are opposed to the war and more than 50% say that we should have never gone, according to the last Army Times poll!
If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. You have had 5 years and all you do is spend money and get people killed. And you want to continue that pitiful policy!
They are coming home alright, in body bags in a transfer container packed with ice!!

First off, I don't think the anti-wat sentiment has actually affected any tactical plans or deployement so I don't think that has to do with the war not being won.
And this isn't actually a war is it? I don't believe there has been an actual declaration and it is more of a figurative war... on terror. That being said, I think it is going to be hard to quantify when it is over. Right now we are just fighting insurgents and helping the Iraqis set up government. What is the main goal? And whatever it is there is probably a multitude of ideas on what it would take to actually acheive it.

Our troops deserve our support in order to succeed with the mission at hand, not to have it swept away from them because of individuals that do not believe in their just cause. We will win by staying the course not by walking away

They should get what they want. And the troops have repeatedly said that's it's a "lost cause" and that they want to get out. Let's respect their wishes--for once!

the war was already won,the occupation seems to be the problem. the Iraqis apparently take longer to train than most. we will be there for a long time though.
