I hear from both sides (both Theists and Non-Theists, Believers and Non-Believers) that the other side is rude, judgemental, arrogant, ignortant, etc. I am agnostic and I have seen believers behave this way as well as non-believers who share my beliefs.
I know good people who are non-believers and I know good people who are believers. So why is it that we see so many arrogant and judgemental people on both sides of the spectrum when we know that there are so many good people out there?
The ones who yell the loudest are the ones who are heard. Those who are not pushy or arrogant sit on the sidelines and do not get involved. This is why both sides think the other side is so terrible - because the 'good' people are not the people shoving their beliefs down our throats and belittling other people for their convictions.
Every group whether it be race, gender, religion, or political party has bad apples - it's not just us non-believers and it's not just believers, either.
