I hear from both sides (both Theists and Non-Theists, Believers and Non-Believers) that the other side is rude, judgemental, arrogant, ignortant, etc. I am agnostic and I have seen believers behave this way as well as non-believers who share my beliefs.
I know good people who are non-believers and I know good people who are believers. So why is it that we see so many arrogant and judgemental people on both sides of the spectrum when we know that there are so many good people out there?
The ones who yell the loudest are the ones who are heard. Those who are not pushy or arrogant sit on the sidelines and do not get involved. This is why both sides think the other side is so terrible - because the 'good' people are not the people shoving their beliefs down our throats and belittling other people for their convictions.
Every group whether it be race, gender, religion, or political party has bad apples - it's not just us non-believers and it's not just believers, either.

Amen Christy! You've got a fire about you in this post, you sure you're not meant to be a preacher? Joking.
I agree 100%. Forums like this always seem to bring out the bottom feeders. Then we end up with people screaming in frustration, "all you Christians are a bunch of jerks!" or "all you atheists are stupid!"
The BIG problem on this site is when a troll comes on here posting something controversial, people reward them by arguing back. Then you ask a serious question, and you get 5 or 6 answers.
If we really want the fighting to stop, both sides need to speak up and condemn those who are rude. Nonbelievers need to start speaking against rude atheists who call Christians names. Christians need to start rebuking uneducated Christians who give bad answers.
And please, for the love of God, if you don't have an answer for an honest question, simply don't reply to it. Enough with the snide remarks that don't give the asker any help.

While I appreciate your good intent, it will never happen. I, personally, believe too strongly that the Christian military is dangerous and needs to be challenged in public. They are a growing addiction and evolving movement. The non-religious are not provoking, harming the spirits of innocent people (e.g.: gays), building palaces of worship, taking offerings, pushing themselves into public-school curriculum, evading taxes or standing on street corners.

It's because of the time we live in Christy.
"But know this that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, NOT OPEN TO ANY AGREEMENT, slanderers, without self control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion bu proving false to its power. 2Timothy3:1-5

No. The excessive Pro hominem to Jesus and Ad hominem to humanity from Christians give me a headache.

My problem is not with nice Christians. I do get along with many of them. My problem is with judgmental Christians, AND with manipulative Christians, especially with religious leaders.

I can't be tolerant. Religion is an anachronism in this day and age-it's got to go.
