Two elderly friends, Bill and Sam, met in the park every day to feed the pigeons, watch the squirrels and discuss world problems.

One day Bill didn't show up. Sam didn't think much about it, figuring maybe he had a cold or some such.

But after Bill hadn't shown up for a week or so Sam really got worried. However, since the only time they ever got together was at the park, Sam didn't know where Bill lived so he was unable to find out what had happened to him.

A month had passed and Sam figured he had seen the last of Bill, but one day Sam approached the park and lo and behold there sat Bill!

Sam was very excited and happy to see him and told him so. Then he said, "For crying out loud Bill, what in the world happened to you?"

Bill replied, "I have been in jail."

"Jail?" cried Sam!! "What in the world for?"

"Well," Bill said, "you know Sue, that cute little blonde waitress at the diner where we sometimes get coffee?"

Yeah," said Sam, "I remember her. What about her?"

"Well last month she charged me with sex assault and I was so proud that when I got into court, I pled 'guilty' -- and the judge gave me 30 days for perjury."

if we didnt torture interns for years with dangerously long hours & sleep deprivation, and we paid doctors to study [as in justice we should, since study is work], would doctors be more plentiful, cheaper, and less idolised and more real and ordinary and natural?

is the punishing internship and the long years part of a plan to keep numbers low and therefore price of doctors high?

[adam smith [father of economics] said: people never get into a group except to defraud the people

and shakespeare said similarly: there is unlimited profit in limited professions

AMA: when america was being flooded with highly trained european doctors before and during ww2, the numbers of doctors did not increase at all - they were kept out by pretending that american doctoring was so different from european

chemists, plumbers use the same trick - any expensive profession - it is only because of limiting the profession - govts could intervene to decide numbers so these professions were not expe

my cousin has decided that he wants to be a christian~wiccan and some of you might remember that when i first started my conversion to wicca that i was a christian~wiccan, for me it was like a stepping stonehelping a christian to convert easly to wicca, and as i respect his decision to become a wiccan even if it is christian~wicca how can i help him on his path or do you think i should live him alone? i really want to be there for him and help him, mostly help him to learn more about it and prepare him for what i have already found the world has for us, i have some books i'm letting him read to teach him some things about wicca, but he is still young he dosnt understand these writtings and i have to tell him what they mean, does this mean he is still to young to be a christian/wiccan because i cant tell him he is too young to choose his religion, anyone should know it is not "my" choice it is his but if you think he is too young then i could just help him more becaouse he would need it

There's a girl at work that I am reasonably friendly with (our conversations are interesting she responds positively). When I suggested the other day that we do something one weekend she agreed. And said that she wasn't sure about a particular day cos she may have plans that night.

Anyway, I checked with her a couple of days later and she made it sound like she had declined the first time I asked but she mentioned plans on the night before? Different day, so I thought she was trying to get rid of me. Yet we still get along the same.

Would I be correct in assuming that if she was giving me the flick that she would kind of distance herself from me, and not be as friendly at work? So I'm leaning towards her not trying to give me the flick. Am I correct? Is there anything I should look out for?

This isn't meant to be a stupid or offensive question, i'm truly curious. I'm completely against the concept of suicide in most cases. Therefore, i'm not belittling or exaggerating the act.

For me, i've never actually written one but i know what mine would say as a result of spending too much time in the shower thinking.

"To Be or Not To Be?

I choose the latter"

That would be mine...

What about you?

It has been said that an army of dedicated monkeys, typing at random, would eventually produce all of Shakespeare’s works. How long, on average, would it take 1 million monkeys, each typing on a 46-key typewriter (space included but no shift key) at the rate of one key stroke per second, to type the phrase “to be or not to be”? How long, on average, would it take one monkey to do so at a computer if the computer would only accept the correct letter in the phrase and then would shift to its next letter (i.e. the computer knew what it wanted). What do these results indicate about the probability of order randomly arising from disorder Vs order arising through a process of evolution?
