There's a girl at work that I am reasonably friendly with (our conversations are interesting she responds positively). When I suggested the other day that we do something one weekend she agreed. And said that she wasn't sure about a particular day cos she may have plans that night.

Anyway, I checked with her a couple of days later and she made it sound like she had declined the first time I asked but she mentioned plans on the night before? Different day, so I thought she was trying to get rid of me. Yet we still get along the same.

Would I be correct in assuming that if she was giving me the flick that she would kind of distance herself from me, and not be as friendly at work? So I'm leaning towards her not trying to give me the flick. Am I correct? Is there anything I should look out for?

I would say one more time "let me know when you're free on a weekend so we can do something." If she never does, then you know she's not interested.

There is no reason why she should change her behaviour towards you just because she doesn't want to date you. The world would be a sad place if people were standoffish or rude just because they don't want a relationship.

And since you are not clear if she is actually blowing you off or not, wait a couple of weeks, then suggest a definate plan and ask her out again. Don't leave it open ended like the weekend, rather plan something specific for a specific day and time.

A movie, a play, rollerskating, whatever, just MAKE her answer yes or no. Ask well enough in advance that it is unlikely she has plans. If she sounds wishy-washy then she is blowing you off.

Hello,
If you still get along the same and she is not acting weird about the situation, I would assume that she isnt giving you the flick.Maybe mention it again so she knows you are still intrested in hanging out.

She's not interested, don't waste any more time on this. Just be glad that she's a resonable nice person, so treat her like a coolfriend,, heck, maybee you might even get some tit out of it later on,, who knows... hehe

You're reading too much into it.

Just ask her out spontaneously. "How about coffee after work today?" "How about a game of bowling tomorrow?"

You're just trying to get to know her better outside of work, so stick with dat... no sense getting all clammy around her and making her worry you've got more on your mind.

Office romances are very tricky...maybe she realized that and decided to play it off like she said no without causing too much embarrassment. I would drop it if I were you. But that is just my opinion :)

You can only reasonably ask twice. You asked her, she made an excuse (or thought she had); you asked her again, she reminded you that she had declined already. To ask her again would be tantamount to harassment, don't you think.

She sounds interested, but probably has other "commitments", and she may not want to stress out your work relationship?

I am pretty sure she just wants to be work friend with you not out of work friend or boyfriend. I don't think she wants to ditch you.
