Or Queen. I always took this to mean that the instant one monarch dies, the next becomes the monarch. Ie. to use a U.S. example, "JFK is dead; long live LBJ". A ceremony takes place, but the nation doesn't go two hours without a leader.

But writers use this sentence in a way that implies it has a different meaning. Today I read, "The guitar solo is dead; long live the guitar solo."

What does that even mean? Long live the memory of the guitar solo? So do people really mean, "Long live the memory of the Queen/King?" or is this writer confused.

If a girl likes a guy, guys never know. I had a going joke competition with some friends last night and came up with ten ways we thought were 'obvious' signs. Can you list a few, so we can find out some other ways? Only the honest truth please!

America was first an idea...an ideal. Where have we gone? Has it been watered down and its people numbed with too much diversity and political correctness? Do we know who we are or what we stand for anymore? Are we just "sheep" being herded around by our ambitious politicians, interested only in where our next meal, next stylish piece of clothing or next entertaining moment is coming from? Are we in an apathetic downward spiral as a society? How can WE stop this slide?...wow...I sound really pessimistic...that's scarey!
