I plan on teaching a unit in which my sophomore English students (high school) explore questions they have about other cultures around the world. The plan is to have them research the answers and turn that research into children's books. I would like to have some models, real picture books that give insight into other cultures around the world.

If nothing else, can you help me find a good place to start?

This is part question, part rant, but my mother had breast cancer surgery a few months ago and just completed radiation therapy. She has to take a medication for five years. She has red hair and is fair skinned and freckled. She announced to me she wanted to come to my pool today (96 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!) but couldn't reach me and so now she wants to come down and get in my tanning bed. I politely asked her if she was out of her mind. She then started carrying on about how it doesn't matter and they (the doctors) want her to get some sun, etc. And when I didn't go along with her, she started saying it didn't matter if she lives or dies anyway, so what's the difference. I finally told her, "You are irrational, and I cannot have this conversation with you. I have to hang up. Goodbye." I'm sure I will never hear the end of this. Please tell me I'm not nuts. Is she in any position to be getting in a tanning bed or sitting in the blistering sun?!

I kept getting browzer errors and it closed the programs. I went to Yahoo and updated as they suggested. Now my printer prints out blank pages some times and I can't go in and buy anything on the web. Please help ASAP

I have a mad dog multimedia cd burner. Every cord that is supposed to be plugged into it is plugged in. I burn cd's through itunes. The tracks are urnable tracks. I have tried to burn several cd-r's and it has not worked. It plays on my computer but not on any stereo including car stereo's. It has worked in the past. What are some reasons it might not be working now? How can I fix it?

The last time I drove it, it was fine. The next time I cranked it up, It had a terrible altenator noise coming through my stereo,and when the dome light goes off, you here a strange whine from it going off. When you turn on the ac it whines through the stereo. It sounds like a grounding problem to me. It now has a dead miss. What could this be? It was like a light switch. It went from perfect to broke.
