Just wondering if anyone has picked up designer knock-off handbags (or wallets) in Vietnam? We're going in late april/early may. Any problem getting them past customs in the States? Not buying them to sell, just want to get a few for myself. Any advice?

We plan to go next week and we shall be staying at the Lan Lan 2 hotel. This is next to the markets. Is this a good hotel to stay for two days until we move on or can someone sugest to me a better place to stay. We just plan to pitch up there and hope there is vacancies available. Is this a smart thing to do??????

Lately I've been reading about Vietnamese culture, and how it has been heavily influenced from China, even though vietnamese always resisted. I'm kind of tired of hearing everything about how vietnam is like china, i wish there was more diversity in my culture, like more influences from india

Booked a tour from here in oz for a halong bay tour, paid over $600 AUD for a private tour, get there and told boat is booked and put on cheaper boat. We refused and asked for a refund. I asked my son where he would like to go on holiday and planned to give him the holiday of a lifetime. Having explored a number of possible destinations he decided he would like to go to Vietnam. We are planning a holiday to Vietnam in August this year. We are mid age, but enjoy doing our own thing. This is the itineary we have come with, talking to travel agents, reading guide books etc.
