I'll be staying downtown KC (Missouri side) this weekend-thursday 30th thru saturday 2nd. I need recommendations for inexpensive dining and some good shopping. I won't have access to a car, so no place to far out of the downtown area.

I am working in Overland Park, but want to live close to the nightlife areas. Money is not really an issue, so where do you suggest I start looking for apartments that are within walking distance of nightlife areas? Also, does public transportation run 24/7? Thinking maybe I could live on the outskirts of the city and take the buses to clubs and back, is that possible. Any suggestions on nightlife, living areas for young, single guy would be appreciated.
