Another possible answer is Benton, Kansas could be mistaken on the phone as Venton

Benton is NE of Wichita on Hwy 254 between Wichita and Towanda.

The only Venton that I could find in the USA is Venton, MD

There isn't a Venton to the best of my knowledge. There is a Vernon, and it is about 150 miles east of Witchita, and just north of Yates Center.

i've lived in kansas my whole life and i have never heard of venton. i know most of the small towns, too. are you sure thats correct?
