Getting married next year abroad, so we can't afford to travel abroad on holiday this summer (which is killing us)..

What is there to do in the UK...?

Was thinking of going back to Alton Towers Splash Landing hotel, and Centre Parcs...

but what else is there we could do.... trying to keep cost low, as well as having a decent break...

Fiance supports Liverpool, but not sure what up there is like...

any ideas would be great....
(no caravans!)

My partners father is from Wales and we would like to visit there one day and catch up with his family, has anyone been to Wales in UK. What is the costs of living and travel, is it big and do you have to speak their language or where could you learn the language.

I know that the U.S. has been independent for much longer, but it seems that even in the 1800s the speech had changed in the U.S. I have some ideas as to why but would like to hear a British perspective. Thanks in advance.

OK, we're a stag do. But, being responsible, we don't want to annoy anyone who wants more peace. We're quite grown up and won't be doing anything too staggy - we're not going to Eastern Europe after all - but will want to BBQ and have music going until about 2am.

Apparently Prince Charles has launched the first British Tourism Week which aims to aims to show us that tourism is vital to the economy of the United Kingdom and that anyone with any sense would take a holiday close to home rather than spend our money going to all these johnny foreigner places!

So where's the best spot for a fortnight's break in the UK, and where's the spot that would be about as good as having a fortnight in hospital?

I'm looking for a website where I can buy a travel hair dryer and straightener that can be used in England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. I know that Scotland has different voltage from the other three, but if I have something that uses 220V, will it still work in England where it's 230V? I guess that's really my main question.

I have traveled before with adaptors, but I always felt like even with the adaptors my appliances would get super hot. It just didn't seem right.

Thanks!
