My partners father is from Wales and we would like to visit there one day and catch up with his family, has anyone been to Wales in UK. What is the costs of living and travel, is it big and do you have to speak their language or where could you learn the language.

Don't worry about the language they speak English just fine.
It is a little cheaper than England but the transport costs are pretty much the same. Depending on the area accommodation can be cheap.
Wales is so beautiful and green. my grandmother lived in the north and I have fond memories of visiting the seaside town of Llandudno and of seeing the historic castle at Conway and Carnarvon. We also caught the ferry to Ireland for the day - it was fantastic.

I'm in the UK and have been to Wales many times. The cost of living is like the rest of the UK...expensive. It's not that big a country but it is full of wonderful scenery...the Gower Peninsula in particular. Whilst Welsh is till spoken in many places ( and quite rightly so) English is the predominant language spoken in Wales and if you wanted to learn Welsh you might find it quite hard to do so....

Enjoy your visit if you get to come over here, and you can always lose the extra calories from all the lava bread and bara brith and Welsh scones that you will be eating by climbing Snowdon or exploring some of the many castles...or cheering on a rugby team..or listening to a male voice choir!
