Not any time soon, especially as no-one in this country wants it. The Government would have to hold a referendum to allow the public to vote on it, and most people would vote no. Its a pretty good job we didn't join, everyone complained about how prices went up when they converetd to the Euro, and the pound is stronger than the Euro at the minute. Its better for us all to stick with the pound. Some large shops do accept Euro, especially in the South east, but its not legal tender

I hope we will convert but no one in power is brave enough to embark on this journey at the moment because it gets hijacked by the emotive "We're giving up our identity" rubbish.

It would make us a proper part of Europe, make trade and travel easier in both directions and generally align us more fully with our counterparts in the EU. I'm really tired of hearing about how we'll stop being British or that we're a world power in our own right... the only way we can fully benefit from membership of the EU is, in my view, by being full members of it.

It is unlikely any british government will join the euro as it would lead to their downfall

They havent agreed to join yet. Guess it depends who wins the next elections. I dont see it happening any time soon, so dont hold your breath.
